He hadn't wanted to make her cry, but he had seen the tears forming before he had ever voiced his feelings. He needed her to hear what he'd had to say. To understand exactly why he had gotten so angry with her and her response would tell him everything he needed to know. As she spoke he would give her his full and undivided attention. Every tear that slid down her cheek made his stomach twist in nots, especially because they were caused by him. Because he had accidentally made her think he might leave her. That twisting would only ease as Akemi rested her head on his chest.
