Shelter Me

Ren did not believe his mother was gone forever. Or rather, he hoped not. He knew that this sickness was one of the mind, and as with the fit back in the cave he hoped that it would eventually wear away. He certainly hoped she recognized her children again, at the very least. He would pass by Marina's old den - he had moved out not that long ago, too big to fit anymore - when a soft whimper would make him pause. He had not passed this way in a long while, instead focusing on the borders. And yet, there was his sister's scent, strong as ever. Had she been staying in the den, anyways? He knew she was tiny, and could probably fit with Marina... but... Frowning, he stepped forward, blinking a bit as he stuck his head into the den to see. Yes, there was his sister. "Kaitlyn," he murmured softly, wiggling inside to and around so the girl was tucked against his side. He would lap at her ears soothingly, silently. Oh, his poor sister.
