"I climbed," he told the boy. The child soon popped out of the snow and shook his coat off. In an instant he had both paws up on the side of the tractor and was checking it out. With amusement Valentine watched him investigate, the corners of his mouth rising as the boy found the metal too cold to touch. He was a bit like Rhys, the King decided. They shared an innate curiosity. Again the boy asked how he'd managed to get up top of the tractor and this time Valentine motioned towards the nose of it, which, while closer to the ground, was still pretty high up. "I jumped up on that end and then jumped up here. It is pretty cold, but after a bit the metal warms." Valentine scooted around so that his forepaws hung over the windshield in preparation of climbing onto the hood. "Would you like me to help you up?" |
