Summer's Rest

Just as she had begun to drift off, eyes closing and ears twitching along with the white noise of the ocean, something disturbed her. She wasn't sure if her ears picked up soft pawsteps, or the scent of another wolf touched her nose first, but a small shiver ran down her spin, drawing her out of her reverie. Golden orbs opening, then narrowing, she didn't move, making as though she hadn't noticed the male. Sure enough, a deep voice graced her ears, sickeningly sweet to her ears. Shifting her stance, she rolled her shoulders and arched her back, maw opening wide in a yawn. Teeth clicking as her jaw snapped shut, she finally turned to survey him. As usual, she planned to examine his form - to see just how much of a threat he posed, should he be looking for trouble - but concerningly found her luminaries drawn directly to his in curiosity. Heterochromia - she'd seen it before, in other wolves. One eye was a vibrant green, the other a shocking blue, making for quite a spectacle. She also noted interesting markings around his eyes, but let her gaze wander to their original target. He was actually quite small - not in height, but she guessed he weighed little more than she did, if at all. He certainly seemed a fair match.
"Eyes wandering, sister?" Aristè nearly snorted aloud when the voice in her head spoke, Quinn. She thought she had left it behind, along with her pack and any other bad memories. Nose twitching, she elected to ignore it, instead looking through the strange wolf. At least he had enough sense to leave adequate distance between them. "Yes, I am." She kept her answer short and evasive. Finally rising to her paws, she turned to properly face him, lissome limbs standing to their full height, as her ears perked atop her head. Studying his face, she tried to watch for his true reaction, curiosity reflecting in her own. "And you, brute?" She questioned, not willing to reveal any more than her automatic mannerisms. Muscles rolling beneath her coat as she waited for her cues, she gave enough pause for him to answer, or fail to answer her first question, before moving on to another, more intriguing one. One that she wanted to know far more. "And what is your name?" Her voice rang out once more, words rolling off her tongue with ease, crafted carefully to balance interest and neutrality. She wanted to see where he stood, if he rang true before ignoring him in annoyance for interrupting her. Glaring, daring him to respond negatively, she waited on an answer, still subtly on guard against attack. |
