He had strayed from Baxter, heavy paws carrying him through the network of willow trees. Kovu didn't need to be by his brother's side twenty four seven, and in those short periods they were searated the boy would be able to survive with that brain of his. Why Kovu strayed away in the first place was for food, copper orbs scanning the snowy terrain, a low rumbling in the back of his throat.

Within minutes he had caught a small rodent that had strayed from its den, snapping its spine with ease and swallowing it whole. It wasn't much, thin with little meat, but it would do for now until him and his brother found out what they would be doing today. Done with that he moved away from his spot, nose sniffing the air and quickly finding Baxter's scent. It didn't take long for him to get on his tril, weaving through some trees until finally seeing two figures a few yards away.

He lowered his head, shoulders rolling as he trotted forward, tail swaying behind him. Ears swiveled forward, catching the brother's voice but not clos enough to figure out what he was saying to the other wolf. A job? Eh spoke up, deep, raspy. He approached Baxter, coming up from behind on his left side, taking his place beside his brother. Copper eyes fell upon the wolf before them, white with some other colors and strange markings. His nose twitched, a female... in heat.
