Kindling

Her ears flicked at the sound of something nearby, a voice unknown to her. Turning to look at him, she raised a brow with a questioning look. He wasn't that far away...how the hell had she not seen or smelled him? Maybe it was the saltwater or something...meh. Facing the larger but younger male, silver gaze studied the boy. He was certainly handsome, but maybe too young for her. "Konichiwa." She would use her native tongue, perhaps to see how he would react. After all, the last person she'd spoken her native tongue to seemed irked about her even using it. Her English wasn't perfect, and she had a hard time translating her tongue into the more...acceptable one of this land, but she often tried and failed.
