Her reassurance made him snap his attention towards her again. He felt himself breath a little bit easier, maybe he just couldn't imagine himself being happy. For the single reason bad luck followed him everywhere. Even if he could heal her when she was sick, if that's where his place stood so be it. Avalon's opinion about a pack sounded like heaven, he just knew Katja would think otherwise. At the first sign that she would be in danger, he might think of giving himself up for her own safety.
Though her last sentence, made his eye go wide. His ears perked up and he felt his mouth open a little. She intended to.... what? Had he heard her correctly? That and what she said almost sounded like an invitation. “Avalon I....” he started to cry. Wiping away his eye quickly. “You shouldn't be so kind. I just made up my mind that I'd stay by your side even if it kills me.” he clenched his teeth together.
