The voice was not hers. This voice...it wasn't what he remembered. My dear... Those were words that she used to tell him before...he stepped back a pace, hackles slightly stiff but his growl had ceased. No. It wasn't her. And yet, his eyes seemed to play tricks on him. She looked so similar to her...but as soon as she asked who Alice was, he knew he had made a mistake. His ears pinned, his internal guard flying up and steeling himself. "My mate...before she passed away..."
He felt the quick and sharp pang in his heart for a moment, the memory too painful. He dismissed it as fast as he could, cold gaze looking slightly off to the side as he spoke again. "You look like her...I'm sorry for disturbing you." His heart hammered in his chest as the memory threatened to resurface. "That was stupid of me." He growled again, how could he have been so stupid to think she was here? |
