Heavens not made enough

She didn't take him for granted either, nor would she ever. Love wasn't something she kept bundles of in a pouch, sprinkling it over any man she saw whenever she wished. It wasn't something she could turn off when she had enough of or change what it did to her. Though love was a part of her, a strong emotion she had, it wasn't something she could control. It had a mind of its own. It struck in the most mysterious ways, at the most unexpected times with the most unusual symptoms. It came in all different forms. Sometimes she didn't know she was affected until much later.

Pressed against his body, she felt his heart flutter inside his chest. The sensation ignited a thousand sparks beneath her skin. She felt connected to him, like she knew exactly what was running through his head, the changes in his body. Like soulmates, even. "Watashi wa anata o tebanasu koto wa kesshite naidarou," she whispered with surprising fluency. She didn't stop to wonder how it was the longest sentence she had learnt so far yet it was the one she least struggled with. She just pressed deeper into his fur, snuggling herself comfortably. As she shut her eyes, she continued to whisper that sentence until she settled into slumber.
