They Left Us Alone

Athena's ears twitched at her son's howl and as she turned her head to look in the direction it came from a huge wave of relief washed over her. No matter how many times her sons came and left she would never stop feeling relieved when they returned. She loved all of her sons equally, but she had always had a particularly soft spot for Vitus. A smile stretched across her lips and she turned to hurry toward the border. She almost wished her and Amalia's den was closer to the border so Vitus wouldn't be kept waiting as long. Luckily it seemed her other children had already arrived to keep him company. Her tail was wagging behind her happily as she trotted over to them, a huge grin stretching across her muzzle when she saw that Vitus was all in one piece and well. She immediately went to Vitus and pressed her face to his neck, a relieved sigh passing her lips. "Welcome back, Vitus. I've missed you."
