These are the dog days

Truthfully, Vali was far from cold. Her fluffy white coat kept her warm, and she didn't notice the chill at all. She was also focused on her job, on her herb collecting; she was looking for all sorts of herbs. True, a majority of the herbs she sought she could find at home, but a few she couldn't... and truly, she wanted the excuse to explore, and to be outside the pack lands. She hadn't gone away in so long; she figured a nearby territory would be a well enough break. Besides, she could find watercress and horsetail here, with the plants thinking it was spring again. Hopefully, they'd still come again in the true spring, but for now, she'd take what she could get... and what she could get was a patch of watercress, growing right by the lake! "Woo!" she chirped, bouncing over, nosing the cress. It was a large patch, alright, and certainly wouldn't mind if she took a few. Her paw fished out and she pawed at the ground around a clump of watercress when a resounding crack sounded behind her.

The wolf froze, slowly turning to regard the source of the sound - a ginger male, frozen mid-action and looking absoltuely sour. "Well, don't just stand there," the Abaven wolf said mildly, ears twitching. "If you're just gonna stand there, then come here and help me with these herbs." She had no problem commadering help from a loner; perhaps they could even arrange a deal in order to procure his help.
