The ever-present expanse of snow was one of the things Capir liked the most about Glaciem. He loved hearing the chilly winds whistling around heaping snow drifts and glaciers moving too slow for the eye to see. He loved feeling the snow give under his paws and spray out behind him as he went on his daily runs around the territory. He had grown up in a frigid landscape much like this one and had missed running over a terrain that put up a fight against you as you ran through it. Although he enjoyed the extra boost of speed his strong leg muscles gave him over grass, he felt as though he wasn't doing anything but getting somewhere. Running over snow gave him the feeling that even the process of going from point A to point B was strengthening him. His jaws parted in a half pant, half smile as Capir began to feel the beginnings of a runner's high, the swishing of the snow and the thrumming of his large paws striking the frozen earth singing in his ears.

Then another song met his ears, the distant howl of a comrade in need of company. The call didn't appear to be very urgent or to be calling for someone of high rank. He wondered what anyone would need to howl for other than to meet a newcomer on the border or sound the alarm for trouble. Intrigued, Capir changed his course. His long legs soon brought him near to the source of the call, and he slowed to a stop, still quite a distance away. It was a male wolf, and he was alone. Capir didn't recognize his scent, but could smell Glaciem on him and knew he wasn't an intruder. Moving again, he cantered up to the gentleman, his tail low and swaying in a silent, polite greeting to a peer.

"Good afternoon," he greeted with a nod, taking a seat near the other wolf.
