As he was accustomed to doing Taufr lagged way behind the rest of the group. The illness he had only recently recovered from only pushed him further back as the more energetic (not for long) of his siblings raced ahead. He didn't mind bringing up the rear; it gave him the opportunity to evaluate the situation before he stepped into it. In this instance the young boy lingered well behind the others until the strangers started to arrive. Without a word he crept closer as the woman approached until he stood no more a few feet behind his sisters. With a critical eye he looked the woman over. After a few moments of thoughtful scrutiny his gaze roved to the yearling and he swept a similarly critical eye over him. Were these enemies? He rather liked the idea of having enemies. Enemies were for vanquishing, for mauling with gusto, their corpses for dancing on in victory. If his dad's stories were to be believed having enemies sounded like a blast.

It was decided then, wasn't it? These were their enemies. Nonchalantly he wormed his way into the gaggle of sisters so he could be a bit closer to the strangers. He knew better than to instigate, but being enemies and all meant these folks could jump at them at any time. Taufr wanted to be ready. His dad was fond of telling stories about fights he'd gotten into and Taufr wanted to have stories like that too.

An idea suddenly struck him and his keen gaze brightened further. Wouldn't his parents be proud if they brought home captives? Taufr once again assessed the strangers, this time with their worth in mind. He shot a look to Runa. If it was meant to be she would know it.
