It wasn't a bad thing that Starling was so obsessed with his herbs. Their family needed a healer - and being so interested in one thing wasn't such a bad thing. But bitter feelings flooded him suddenly, and he felt a vile taste in his mouth as his stomach clenched tightly. His hazel gaze was sharp and almost impatient, demanding answers; but he could never get truly angry at any of his family. Perhaps he might snap, might say a few hurtful words - but anything more than that was unthinkable.

"Starling," he'd reply quickly, wondering what his brother might have to say. Hearing his apology so quickly was surprising. Was he really sorry? For how he had acted? Or just sorry that his family had called him out on it? His jaws clenched as he stared and waited for more. His eyes welled up with tears, though he couldn't tell if Starling was simply upset that he'd been confronted, but he seemed genuinely sorry. He even admitted that he'd been an idiot.  "Yeah, you have," he said, though his voice had lost its sharp edge. Instead, it'd been replaced with a soft, confused sort of somberness.

"Non sei stupido." Lark said firmly, his brows tugging together tightly in slight frustration.  "Hai appena fatto una cosa stupida." And.. what now? He eyed his brother, slowly bringing himself to sit on his haunches rather than lay down.
