It had been so long since he'd been out on his own. He'd been stuck in that grounded barge for ages. He could hardly tolerate the cold - he wasn't built for it. But Sabine insisted on keeping him there. But she'd been going out a lot lately, and he'd decided to take his chances and stretch his legs. And get some fresh air, away from that gross little ship. And as he'd meandered along, he found himself going further and further, until he was well out of sight of the dingy little ship. Maybe Sabine would never notice he was gone... maybe he didn't have to go back. A smug grin crossed his maw, his long, black-tipped tail curved over his back. It had been a while since he'd felt like himself, free of her domineering presence.

He knew he had to go back though. If he didn't, she would find him. She didn't need her eyesight to find him, her other heightened senses would do the job for her. And if she found him, she would destroy him; probably not enough to kill him, after all, if he was dead, he wouldn't be able to feel her claws and fangs ripping him apart anymore. As much as he despised being under her control, he wasn't willing to risk her wrath like that. He would go back, eventually. Besides, it was a way of life he'd grown used to by now... and it wasn't all bad.

But for today, he'd enjoy a little time to himself. Finding the strange ice bridge, and feeling the warmth of the early summer air, an amused grin spread across his mug. Maybe if he crossed it, he'd end up on the other side and the ice would melt, and he'd be alone until the ice froze again. A harsh chuckle escaped him as his dark paws carried him over the bridge, coming to the strange island-like land mass that looked like the landing site of a giant meteor. A strange misty steam seemed to be coming up from the middle, beyond the yearling saplings. Not normally a curious creature, he'd make an exception today, having seen nothing new in seasons. He wandered and descended until he came to the strange, steaming pool at the middle of the island. At the edge of the water he stood, his singular sky blue eye scanning about his surroundings calmly, feeling somewhat relaxed for the first time in ages.
