OOC// if ya'll can reply real quick, even with just a short 100 word post that'd be great! Next round spars will start and I'd like to try and just get this finished so we have at least one complete training thread xD also for those who might want points. If you're on absence then don't worry about it. Replies due by next Monday please! No posting order go nuts! ALSO, at this point feel free to start separate fight threads as an extension to this one so it's not all cluttered, otherwise your spars can be done here. Avalon can go around answering questions and/or helping members. So she'll do that here or pop in to observe if you make a separate thread. You can do as many rounds as you want as long as it's a minimum of 2!
They'd begin to arrive, and to her surprise, Gryphon was first. She smiled to her son, glad he was doing better now. "Good morning Gryphon. I am glad to see you are doing well!" Truly she was. He and Kharnage had both gotten bad cases of pneumonia when they were very young, so she hoped it didn't affect them too much in life. Esarosa came next, and while she had been excused for this session, it seemed that she still wanted to be present for it, which was perfectly fine! The alphess nodded to the ebony woman, "That is fine, you're more than welcome to participate where you feel able to do so." She smiled at her, excited too that there would be more pups coming.
Vereux, Liar, and Amachi would come then, as well as a few pups. Kharnage, Dragon, the new and rather interesting member. Then her little Enlil ran up to her, and the alphess leaned down to lick the top of his head. She laughed when he mentioned a 'ghost wolf', her gaze finding Ganta. "That is Ganta, dear. He's a new member in the clan. And I very much doubt he is a ghost, but if he was, then he'd be the nicest ghost to haunt us." She winked at Ganta as she appealed to her child's imagination, before turning her attention to the last three that arrived. Galahad, Steel, and Lykos. She greeted each of them before waiting a few more minutes. And when it seemed no more pups or members showed, she'd begin. Though she did make note that the red marked woman had not shown up...she'd speak with her later.
"Good morning everyone, and thank you for coming. This is Ivalice's first official training together, and I hope you'll all be able to take what you learn here and put it to good use." She had a vague idea of what she wanted to do with them, and since there were pups present as well, she'd have to switch things up a bit. "I'd like to go over a few basic things first, and then I'll pair you off for practice spars. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask at any time. If you would like to contribute some knowledge, you may voice that as well." Well...she wondered how she would do. She hadn't really led a whole group training before, so there was always the chance she would screw it up. But, you lived and you learned right?
"Alright. I'm sure some of you are already familiar with the basics, but for the sake of those who aren't, I'll go over them. For starters, I will go over the basic defenses and I will demonstrate as I go along." She took a deep breath, her stance widening a bit to place her legs at hip and shoulder width apart. "When you widen your stance, it helps keep you balanced and your legs steady. Should someone try to knock you over, then this will make it harder for them to do so. To accompany this, you'll also want to spread your toes and dig your claws into the earth. Not only does it help with balance as well, but traction when you move, and to help keep you from being pushed backward" She figured this might be boring for some of them, but she was mostly doing it for those who didn't know. "You'll also want to align your tail and head with your spine, but keep in mind that it won't always be possible. Depending on your positions, you might not have any other choices but to keep your tail tucked at all times. Especially for males. But for everyone, having it flagged out will help you with balance and maneuverability. And in some cases, keeping it tucked will help you keep it attached to your body should someone decide they want it as a trophy. Not only that, but it will help protect your belly and more...sensitive parts." She then demonstrated and explained all the other defenses she knew of. (Speeding this along so it's not all drawn out, so pretend she explained all the defenses and why you need them etc etc.)
There. She had covered the defenses. "Any questions so far?" She waited to see if anyone had any questions, or if anyone wanted to add anything that she might have missed. Right...now, for the more complex stuff. She took a moment to think as she looked at each of them. Deciding that she would move it along and teach them as they went. "I know the basic stuff is boring for those who already know, so I'm going to pair you all off and teach you more complex things as we go."
"When you hear your names, please pair off and find a spot. If you haven't met your partner, then introduce yourself and then decide who will take the first move. I'd like this session to focus primarily on defense. Sometimes the best offense is a good defense. You never know who you'll come across in the field, after all." Alright, her gaze scanned the group as she pondered who to pair up. Once she decided, she began to call out names. "Partners are as follows: Vereux and Ganta. Dragon and Kharnage. Galahad and Amachi. Gryphon and Liar. Lykos and Enlil (that would be interesting). Ramsay and Vadim. And lastly, I will partner with Steel."
She would go to approach Esarosa then. "Esarosa, can you help Vadim and Ramsay? Give them pointers as they go along. If you need any help or have any questions, let me know and I'll come over." She reached out and touched her shoulder, a smile lifting. She adored the ebony woman, and wanted to include her in something since she didn't exactly want the woman doing an actual fight at the moment. "I'm sure the pups would love it if you helped them, but if you're not feeling up to it then don't worry." She glanced to Steel then, nodding to him as she turned around to find a spot for the two. Once everyone paired up, then she would call out further instructions.
