The male obviously noticed her disdain, he only smiled at it though. He was only half joking, so he'd leave it be. Besides it would be some time until her breeding season to begin with, there was time for her to change her mind or ask him about it. To him, having a family would keep them occupied. After all, he refused to leave his children out of anything in the future. It might have been a bit of trouble as well - regardless he was considering it for the future.
