navigation - gambit briar

Ok, so this was not one of her better ideas…  Rœkia maneuvered herself carefully through the briar, her keen garnet eyes searching for any sign of Khat.  The autumn was warmer down here and she wanted to finish stocking up her makeshift den before winter settled in and her movement and travel became more limited.  Of course if she had any sense at all she'd move everything south anyway and not have to worry about snow.  Rœkia sighed, her gaze drifting to Wolf as he flew above her.  It wasn't a bad idea and there was still time….. but she'd best not get distracted.  With the tangle of flora all around here spotting a Khat bush was going to be difficult and she hoped her nose would make up for any failings of her eyes.

Wolf flew down and landed on a scraggly branch near her head and her ears titled back.  "Find anything?"  The magpie shook his head. "Nothing yet, but I'll keep searching."  He took off again and she continued to make her way through the briar.  Pushing boldly ahead.  She paused suddenly when she noticed a…. well, what the hell was she looking at here?  She gazed at the painfully scrawny, jet black canine-like thing.  Well, he didn't look like any wolf she'd ever seen, nor a jackal, coyote or fox.  He had several scars and she wondered if he was a warrior.  Rœkia was not.  Oh she could fight like hell itself if it came down to that but she preferred to avoid fighting where possible.  She tended to deal with such matters in a more… subtle manner.

Shifting the leather pack on her back her she rolled her shoulders forward as she gazed at the man.  "You look half-starved stranger.  If you're looking for prey you've come to the wrong place."  Birds and the small game here were extremely difficult to catch in the thickness of the briar.  He'd have better luck in one of the open territories.  Not that she particularly cared but if he was really hungry she had a wonderful selection of plants for him to choose from.  Grinning toothily she took a few steps forward.
