Of Dark Days and Parting Ways

Why did his homecoming have to be so bittersweet? She was thankful for his strong presence back in the pack lands. Him swooping in and regaining control of everything once more was comforting in a strange way. She'd been confident that she'd done a fairly good job in keeping all the pieces together as she took on the job of leading the pack on her own. Now with Surreal gone ... well she wasn't sure she even wanted to think about the duties of an Archangel right now. Her life had become an overwhelming blur of anxiety. She padded after Regulus at his motion to follow him. The litter still trailed behind him and she made sure to look pointedly forward. She couldn't bear to look at it at the moment. She nodded at his words and trailed off in thought for a moment. They were supposed to have a funeral and the thought made her breath hitch in her throat. It didn't feel real and yet the litter trailing behind her massive vermilion brother was enough truth to prove that thought wrong. She was just glad that he wanted to wait to call everyone together. She felt tired all of a sudden and didn't think she could handle hearing Regulus explaining everything to the rest of the family. She was more than grateful for the change of topic. She mulled over where to start - it felt like so much had happened since he'd left. She composed herself, closing her eyes momentarily, before she opened them again. She took a deep breath before beginning. "Well Castiel brought a female friend home." The thought brought a ghost of a smile to her lips. "They've been spending a lot of time together. Mostly everyone has been quiet. Creed and Kav's kids have been doing wonderfully. Fable's scent is all over the territory so I have no doubt he's been bugging literally everyone." She remembered how heartbroken Fable was over his mom not being around and she frowned before deciding to omit that part. Kavdaya was back now and that's all that mattered. "I called a meeting a while ago. Solveiga left and I haven't seen much of Luck. Fortune ... she's been a great help with everything so I promoted her to Master Hunter. She even held a training for the pups." She paused again, thinking about her siblings, and her frown deepened. She'd almost forgotten about Kieryn. Fuck, more bad news. "Laisren's showing promise to be a great Legionary when he's of age. Rasiel recently got over being sick. Zuriel is enjoying her trip and I took Baine to the north to scout out a new pack." She held her breath for a moment, unable to continue, before she found her voice again. "I can't find Kieryn. I followed her scent to the tar pits before it disappeared entirely. I don't know where she is." She admitted, feeling horrible that she hadn't been able to track down their youngest sibling. "Dagger and Acapella are missing as well." She murmured. So far this felt like nothing but bad news. She couldn't quite find it within herself to tell him anymore. Even the pregnancy felt like bad news since she hadn't exactly planned it in the first place. Walk, "Talk" Think |
