The silver, fox-coated wolf padded along at the rear, making sure no one got lost or left behind. The woman's heart melted as she watched Quelt, the man she'd met by chance, leading their little family along the riverside. Bright had never expected to have pups again, and certainly not to love and feel loved in the way she did now. It was a bizarre feeling, but it made her feel youthful and happy beyond words she could describe. She would always hold a place in her heart for those she had loved in her past, but they were so far from her now, such distant memories... that she would focus all of her love and energy into these beautiful babies, and their loving father. She paused when Quelt did, explaining to the young ones not to go too close to the water's edge. Autumn piped up with a question immediately, but she didn't seem to defy him - she simply wanted to know 'why'. Bright giggled as the girl looked up at her, toppling over onto her back.

Now her son had a question of his own, and she had seen him from the corner of her eye pouncing on something. Perhaps he would be a great hunter one day, when he grew. She would be sure to teach him. Padding over to him and watching as he wiped his paw in the grass, she saw the legs of the creature he'd squished. "Why, that's a grasshopper, Bluemoon," she told him, "They're fast little insects, they can be hard to catch." She smiled at him, leaning down to nuzzle the boy and brush her tongue affectionately up his cheek. Now she would turn to Quelt, who was asking if she was alright. Her silver eyes sparkling with a vitality that hadn't shown in many years, she smiled warmly and nodded her head. "I am doing well, thank you for asking," she assured him, wagging her ebony-tipped tail. If it weren't for him, she'd be having a much harder time. She'd raised two litters on her own already, but this time around everything was different, and for the better.

She laughed as Night came bounding over to her, saying that of course mommy was fine. Lovingly, she reached down and nuzzled the pup's cheek, before seating herself. Yes, she was somewhat tired, it wasn't an easy thing to birth and nurse three pups, and watch over their constant antics. But it was well worth the effort. Now what else would they do for the day? It was a fair day, not too hot, not too cold, so perhaps they could go closer to the falls, where there were shallow pools, and the pups could learn to swim in a safe place. For some it may not seem a vital skill, but it certainly had its uses, and being a strong swimmer was nothing to scoff at.
