The ivory male paced forth, the scent of a deer taunting him. His stomach gurgled and rumbled, and he salivated in anticipation of what would hopefully be a swift kill, but still, the stone man did not set about with any type of urgency.
The scent was leading him down a strange path, and soon, he was staring into the jowls of a cavern. His brow furrowed; had he been following a false scent? Why would a deer enter here? Was the cave...glowing?
As he peered into what should have been endless, abysmal darkness, he could have sworn he saw a glow emanating from its depths. The scent of the deer was still tugging at the predator's mind, and it was growing stronger within the cavern, but the glow had captured his attention. He began to venture into the cave, creeping towards the faint glow that beckoned for him. Another scent began to edge into his recognition; a female.
He put himself on alert now, Xolan was not one to underestimate anyone, especially with that prey-scent hanging around.
But as he moved closer and closer towards the eerie glow that emanated, a silhouette began to form: the deer. Standing strangely- was it injured? It was only about 10 paces ahead of him, and Xolans golden gaze searched the glowing portion of the cave; a white female, painted shades of pastel purple and alien teal from the...the... glowing mushrooms? Xolans brow furrowed again; he had never seen anything of the sort. But his mind could not be held by curiosities for long, not with the deer making his stomach scream for food.
The male stared at the female, with no emotion in his gaze, but it did flick back and forth between her celestial form and the injured deer, which had frozen, perhaps it had seen the female?
Xolan hoped he had caught her eye, but who knew; he slank backward, silently, tucking safely into the shadows, hoping that the injured cervine would turn tail and head right of his gaping jowls.
