Lionel had never felt so horrible in all his life. The bear attack kept replaying over and over in his head like a movie on repeat. The fact Bright Moon and Quelt died and he hadn't been able to save either of them hurt him to his core. Tiburtius had really been the one thing that had driven the bear away. Lionel still felt pretty useless. He didn't know many herbs and he wasn't exactly a great fighter yet and now all he wanted to do was get better. The four slash marks across his left flank now only served as a reminder that he needed to improve. He felt even worse for the three kids who now didn't have parents. Did they ever understand what had happened? He was sure they were upset by the loss of their parents, but death was a hard concept to grasp at a young age. Now he just wondered who was going to raise them. Amalia seemed to have taken them in, but would they stay with her or would another pack member take them? His wound still stung, but it had scabbed over and Lionel had taken care not to reopen it. It didn't leave him much to do with his time, but at the very least he'd spent his time wandering through the mangroves. Today though he wasn't alone and he spotted one of the pups pacing back and forth through the trees. He came closer and inspected the kid and recognized it to be Night. "Hey Night." He called out tentatively. Would the kid blame him for not saving their dad? "How are you feeling?" Walk, "Talk" Think |
