He couldn't lie, he was pretty proud that he had remembered "hola" correctly. He knew it was only one word of a whole complex language, but he had never tried to learn another language before so little signs that he was catching on made him happy. His tail wagged gently behind him, genuinely happy to see her. There was just something about being around Carletta that just made him smile. His head tipped to the side slightly as she tried to ask him something, taking a moment to decipher what she meant. He smiled and nodded after a moment, replying, "I've been fine. I have been really busy." He sighed softly, but still kept a small smile on his lips even when his expression grew a bit sad and tired. "I keep hoping life would slow down a bit so I could do more fun things and get to spend more time with my kids and with you, but it hasn't happened yet." He shrugged a bit as if to say 'but what can you do?' since there was nothing he could really do to change it for the time being. "How are you? Have you been okay?" he asked, focusing his attention back on her for the moment so he wouldn't start dwelling on how tired he had been lately. He certainly didn't want to start getting all sad or sentimental and ruin what little one on one time he had with Carletta. |
