A soft sigh leaves the young male as he traipses back south. The north didn't seem like the most hospitable place to live and Mortar couldn't bring himself to head back to the southern regions either. His only goal was to get as far away from Ray as he could get, but even then would it be enough? What if she came back to him with pleading eyes and apologies. He'd never been able to refuse her and he was too weak to deny her. It was so much easier to just make sure that they never saw each other again. She'd abandoned him twice now and he couldn't take the heartache a third time. It was bad enough that not even Ricochet wanted anything to do with him. They'd ran into each other twice now and both times she'd left him despite the fact he'd wanted her to stay.

What would happen if he ran into Caliber or Arsenal?

Would they want him around. He hadn't seen them on the continent yet, but he imagined that they were here. Ricky had said they both were. Caliber had been kicked out of their old home and the other two had left to follow him. It was strange to think that their line no longer existed in their pack - their family had been the last of the Armistice line to live there since their aunts and uncles scattered. Their father had been the only one to stay and even he was dead.

It was hard not to relive all the past horrors in his life. It was easy enough to realize how much his life sucked too. No pack, no family, no friends, really things couldn't get much worse, so they had to be better at some point, right? He was doing his best to hold on to that small glimmer of hope as he traveled through the young Redbud trees. The flowers had lost most of their spring beauty, but a few vibrant ones still remained while the last fell due to the onset of summer. It was a place Ray would have liked.
