Switchback

...and the home of the wolf will be my home.

Normal || Speech || Thoughts

Switchback calmly listened as Gerhardt began, flicking her tail to the left quietly. As he mentioned that a wolf had been attacked she flinched, wondering what kind of savages these attackers were. What kind of wolf would do that? Was it a pack or rogues? The thoughts swirled in her mind, making it hard to listen. But as she worried more about the rest of her new pack, she forced herself to perk her ears and sit up straighter. Keeping her head lower than the King's, she began to listen once again, just catching the beginning of his next sentence.

Switchback smiled as Gerhardt said that she could go, but then she quickly realized that this was no time to show such happy emotions, a wolf had been attacked and it was possibly dead. Flicking her ears back in apology she continued to listen, nodding as the violet-eyed wolf suggested that she would be the groups messenger. Pushing her paws into the soft snow she imagined herself chasing an elk, bounding right by it's side. Her paws pounding the imaginary dirt as she flew through the air, leaping onto it's back. As she sunk her teeth into it's furry flesh her imagination took hold and transported her to a lush, green forest. Watching as her paws pummeled the dirt, Switchback increased her speed, catching up with a shadowy group of wolves, and easily overtaking them.

Bringing her mind back to the present Switchback flexed her paws, moving the snow beneath her. She knew she would be fit for the job, even though she wasn't the fastest wolf in the pack. For now her speedy paws and lithe frame would be perfect, just in case of an emergency.

As Gerhardt finished she gave a quick nod and opened her mouth to speak, Thank you Gerhardt, I would be honored to help in such a dangerous situation. Protecting the pack is one of my top priorities. As for being your messenger, I believe I am fit for the job. Also I agree that we should stick together, a lone wolf is a vulnerable one," Taking a deep breath Switchback tried to contain her puppy-like excitement, but a few squeaks managed to sneak their way out of her jaws, "Oh and thanks again Gerhardt, I sure hope we can catch whoever did this."

As she finished, Switchback took a step back, waiting for Pontifex to begin talking or start their expedition by leading the way.
