High Voltage

Holy hell what was that sound. The shriek pierced the air with a vividness that made Vali freeze, and her mind automatically went into overdrive as she tried to figure out the tone behind it, even as she found herself racing towards the sound. It was only moments after the shriek that she was able to discern the laughter behind it... mostly because it started up again. Her pounding heart slowed, and the woman paused to gulp breaths down to calm it further. The panicked, instant adrenaline rush was something that she'd not experienced much before, and she hoped to the gods that it would never happen again. Even knowing it was laughter, the fear was slow to leave her heart.

Still, there were only five children in the pack, which means the shrieking likely belonged to one of them... and she was, after all, already on her way there. With the colors changing into the vibrant hues of reds, golds, and browns, it wasn't hard to see the grey-blue boy writhing in the loose piles of leaves. The white female bounded closer, her yellow eyes sparkling as she took a flying leap... and landed with a thump in one of the other piles of leaves, her paw already swiping at them to fling them at the boy. She didn't say anything; she didn't need to with this.
