Now that it was cooler the girl had been exploring a lot more then she had been in the summer. Her dark coat and the hot sun made for a horrible day so the girl had stayed in the cool den most of the summer. Now that it was fall she was out and about more and exploring like crazy. Today was no different and today she had discovered something she was good at, even at this young of an age. She had discovered her nose was more powerful then she had thought and that she was good at picking up scents. So she had already spent most of her day fallowing trails and trying to figure out who they belonged too. It gave her something to do and excited her to discover what the scents were. So far she had tracked a rabbit, a deer, a turkey, and even a quail.
She was excited to learn the different scents and wanted to continue to discover how far she could track things. It was interesting to learn the different types of animals and their scents. She was a great distance from where her brother was watching the quail and was unaware of his presence. Right now she was on the trail of a creature she hadn't come across yet. An animal that she would soon find out would be a groundhog and she tracked it back to it's den. She was quiet as she moved sneaking forward until her eyes caught sight of the young groundhog not far in front of her. The creatures back was to her giving her a perfect chance to observe it a little, but the girl also realized she was feeling rather hungry. She was certain that this creature was edible and she quickly made her mind up to kill this creature.
She really didn't know what she was doing, but it seemed like her natural instinct kicked in. She crouched low and quietly moved forward and watching the creature as she moved. When she felt she was close enough she readied herself, bending her legs slightly in preparation to pounce. Once ready she sprung fourth unhinging her mouth and grasping the creature around the neck as her body landed on top of it. The young groundhog squealed and tried to wriggle free, but she remained on top of the creature, dipping her teeth into the creature and trying to whip her head in order to kill it. Her teeth were not quite sharp enough to kill the creature so she pinned it down and tried to kill it. Moving her one paw to the creatures neck she pinned it before snapping her jaws around it's mouth and nose, pinching off it's airway and trying to suffocate it.
Her gold eyes darkened slightly as she realized what exactly it was that she was doing. Maybe this was her path to go in the pack it was still to early to tell. It took a while but soon the baby groundhog stilled and her tail wagged as she realized her accomplishment. Grabbing the groundhog by the neck again she moved away from it's den and settled down to eat, digging into the softer part of the animal which would be the abdomen and eating slowly.
