Hush Hush Hush

He slipped from the mouth of the den eagerly, the end of his bushy tail waving from side to side as he tore into the deer’s limp body. He looked up at the other male and caught the steeled concern in his lavender eyes. Something was troubling him. Spider licked his lips and tucked his head to brush his side against Shiloh’s chest, raising his head to kiss his cheek once he was half-way under his throat .“T-t-thank you.” He said softly. Although he had intended to comfort him, openly acknowledging that he seemed troubled might have been taken with offense. Hopefully his apparent gratefulness would help settle him instead, even if it was only for a moment. At the same time he was fully prepared to roll onto his back in submission if the male chose to take his frustration out on him instead. He was prepared for pain but some small part of him believed Shiloh wouldn’t do that to him, no matter how many times he had licked his own wounds before. He stayed pressed against the male, feeling the warmth radiating off his tawny fur and smiled shyly. He wondered if this was how his sister felt when she was with her husband; the weightlessness and the tight, heavy, warmth of contentment in his stomach. He wondered if this was love or simply some adolescent longing. In the end it didn’t matter, he was grateful for whatever he had with Shiloh, even if it might not have been mutual.
