Got Nothin' On Me

She had been trailing along the borders, on the outside of the borders. And she felt rebellious! She had just turned a year, and now that she was a yearling she was free to explore the world beyond pack borders! She was excited, and she was going to take advantage of this newfound freedom! Her father had gone to find her twin brother so he could take them exploring together, but she didn't want to wait anymore. She had waited months! And now that she had the chance, she decided to go on her own. As she sniffed around the borders, her ears flicked at the sound of a howl, but she didn't know who's howl it was. Bi-colored eyes rose to see her mom heading towards the borders, and with a furiously wagging tail she decided she wanted to be nosy and check out what was going on. Without them knowing. Grinning, she sneaked along the borders until her mom and...a big red wolf came into view, and she laid down hidden in a bush and listened to some of the conversation. Had she been paying full attention, she would have caught the seriousness of the conversation. But of course, she had the attention span of a goldfish, so she only caught some of the things like tracking someone down, and north and oh look a butterfly! Quietly, she slipped away and headed away from them, going back towards her previous spot until the butterfly flew up and away, too high for her to reach.
Frowning, she glanced back in the direction of her mother, half wondering who it was they were talking about. Had some family gone missing? Were they planning a trip? A race? OH! A race sounded awesome! Tail wagged furiously again, and she decided she wanted to race! Maybe that's what they were doing!? A race to the North!? Yes please! She had always wanted to see the north where snow never melted, at least that's what her dad told her. So without waiting further, she decided she would do the thing and join the great race to the north! |
