Nerves
She lapped up the water rather hurriedly, the girl realizing how parched she was from her energetic race to...wherever the heck she was supposed to go, but she was positive she was going the right way. After all, why wouldn't a cave be the ideal obstacle course!? Made sense to her at least. But of course, in the grand scheme of things, there was no race, and there was no finish line. But in her head, she swore up and down that's what was going on, and she wanted to win! She wondered if Rory or her mom had gone off to race too, and if they were behind her somewhere or if they were eating her dust. She giggled a little at that thought, though suddenly inhaling water which caused her to cough and sputter for a moment. When her little moment was over, she was about to resume drinking when a voice echoed around her, startling her and making her jump. She whirled to see the most giant wolf she had ever seen! She thought her father was big, but this wolf was definitely bigger than her dad! He wasn't close enough to where she had to crane her head all the way up, but he was definitely a giant compared to her tiny self. "Whooaaah! You're even bigger than my dad! And he's big!" She exclaimed with awe.
She realized then he had asked a question, and she scooted away from the water, tail wagging and bi-colored eyes sparking with curiosity. "You can have some! I think I'm done anyway, I'm in a race and I gotta find my way back so I can win!" She grinned, before looking away to figure out where the heck she had come from. Where was the way out? She had to get back on the path before the others beat her! Then, an idea struck her! "Hey! Do you know the way out? There's a race, see? I heard my mom and some other big red guy talking about tracking something, but I kinda wasn't also paying attention. I'm one hundred percent positive they were talking about some sort of race to the north though, and I gotta get back out so I can beat them!" |
