Hunter's Fire

Enrico lifted his head at the sound of a howl calling the pack to a hunt. He'd been learning the patterns of the prey that resided here since he'd come - prey much more familiar to him than the animals on the southern continent he'd left to return here. He was slowly becoming used to there being other wolves around constantly. So many months, years even of being alone but for a few isolated incidences had left him without the social graces and ease that he'd once had. Even as quiet as Celestial was it felt too busy and loud with so many intruding into his thoughts. But his ambition wouldn't let him continue to skulk around on his own for any longer than he already had so, turning from his own path, he moved to join the group gathering.
Icy eyes passed over the group, measuring them each quietly. The youths, who all shared a resemblance to one degree or another, the elder male who also resembled them, and the older female who... also resembled the others, though somewhat less. Sight and scent made it obvious that those who had already gathered were related by blood, bar only him. He had seen much the same thing at the pack meeting. It didn't worry him. After all, the pack didn't hold any high ranking members currently, so it didn't seem as though he would be competing against any nepotism in seeking a high rank of his own.
He gave a polite nod of his head to the dark female who he assumed called the hunt, since the voice had seemed older than the only other female, and seated himself a short distance from the group to observe them and listen.
