She was startled when her cousin decided to speak at last, jumping nearly out of her skin. She had already forgotten his name, and she'd been lost in her own daydreams when he'd interrupted her. He asked if he was boring her and she wrinkled her nose. Had he read her thoughts? Was that a thing he could do? Well, if so... She focused on imagining a picture of herself sticking her tongue out at him. "I miss Mama. When is she coming back?" She stood up and danced in place. "Sitting around is boring! Let's go look for bugs or something!" Her young mind had a difficult time coming up with ideas for suitable entertainment, but she was doing her best. The young girl wanted to explore the whole canyon, to consume it like a meal. She wanted to know every little nook and cranny but Mama said it was too dangerous. Asharya hoped that maybe one day when she was bigger Mama would take her everywhere, but for now the canyon would do! "Where is your favorite place?" She asked suddenly. "Have you seen a lot of places? What are they like?" Questions poured out of her with what you cuold only call youthful abandon. Her mind was a bottomless abyss, starving for information. He'd likely regret not just letting her wander off before long. |
