He and Pyralis ran side by side, keeping up with the young antelopes as they tried to flee. Alarik had his Before long, the fawn was dead, and Pyralis released its throat from her bloody jaws. She grinned at him and he nearly winced at the gory sight of the blood dripping from her lips, but he just chuckled a bit and smiled back at her. Their hunt had been successful. Now they could dine.

Pyralis started up at the neck, so Alarik gave her some space and started down at the muscular thigh. He ate his way through most of the leg and enjoyed some of the more tender bits in the groin and stomach area. But eventually, he had eaten his fill as well and he slowly stepped back, wiping his mouth in a mix of grass and snow. Antelope meat was always tasty to him, but the meat of that fawn had been so tender and juicy compared to that of an adult. He agreed completely. It had hit the spot. "Absolutely," he said, licking his lips a bit to clean them of any leftover blood. "Well worth the effort."

He smiled at the woman and then looked back at the remains of the fawn. "What should we do with the rest?" the young man asked, not sure if the woman had a preference one way or another. "We could leave it for scavengers, or you could take some home to your pups," he said, and then he paused for a moment. That was the first time he acknowledged the fact that she had children. He had to admit, she didn't strike him as the motherly type. He wasn't exactly sure how she would react to his suggestion. But still, it was there.

He didn't know how old her pups were but he was sure they wouldn't turn down the chance to munch on a meaty antelope leg.
