Tattered bits of bloody flesh slid down his throat and coated his lips and teeth with a thin veil of red. He ate messily, saliva and food alike stringing along his muzzle and face as he buried it in the corpse. Small squeaks and hums of satisfaction escaped his maw as he fed. It had been so long, his stomach probably had cobwebs and dust in it! The beast giggled, and continued to indulge in the small amount of food he?d found. What a lucky day!
He was just getting to the haunch when the approaching pounding of another caused him to snap his head up. Ears stood up erect, the frayed edges of the stumpy left drooping pathetically. Pale blue eyes widened slightly, and his bloodied jaws clamped shut as he held his breath. Something was coming, and getting very close. A rabbit shot past, and he gasped a little. Instinct told him to run, but another voice hissed about the food. He couldn?t just leave it. He wouldn?t. He remained still for a second, paralyzed while reasons battled. In a flash the approaching whatever it was burst through the grasses and promptly collided with his back. The stranger, quickly identified as wolf, went flying in one direction. Caesar was shoved with a yelp into his meal, falling roughly on his right side into the hollowed and gory belly of the ungulate.
It didn?t really hurt. If anything, he enjoyed the bump, and the bath in the animal remains. But he screamed anyways. ?Oooooooooooooowwwwwwwww!? it was an exaggerated and drawn out howl, his high voice trembling as he pointed his head skyward, still on the ground. Indignantly, he hopped up off of the carcass, his side painted with globs of stringy meat and blood, though he didn?t seem to notice much. The imp spun to cast a pointed stare at the culprit. ?Flying lady hurt Caesar! Pushed him in his food! She owes him new food!? he barked, fluffing his scraggly fur. He was never one to disregard an opportunity. Maybe she?d think she really owed him something, and he could eat more.
