Archelaus was on patrol, yet again.. it seemed all the squires were. He strayed a bit further out from their territory borders every now and then, just to check for anything nearby.. until, of course, he came to the border of Dragoste- to which he would remain in their own territory respectfully. He was happy to help with more perimeter checking due to the fact that it was likely his own laziness in the first place that led to intruders. He understood the importance of their roles here in Fiori, and he had promised Leo he'd fulfill the duties asked of him.. yet... there was only one problem.
The mundane task of walking in circles all day was incredibly boring. He did it to guarantee the protection of his family, and to return the favor to his mother for keeping up with it for so long while he simply lazed around the packland. The continuous work still took some getting adjusted to.
His ears were sensitive to every little break in the silence outside of his own breathing and walking, even the robins that had returned home for the coming spring set him off into becoming incredibly alert. Robins. Archelaus sighed as he continued, stepping over every root he came across without even needing to glance. He knew this routine by now, that was for sure- so his attention was mainly scanning through every hibernating tree and shrub for something that looked out of place.
For as laid back as Archelaus was, he still craved some excitement every now and then. He hoped to run into something else on his walk, though it was a good sign that their constant patrol was keeping away intruders successfully. When he came across her, she instantly piqued his interest.. making him come alive. His relaxed way of walking instantly tensed up a bit as he stood taller, his tail swaying absent-mindedly and slowly behind him while his dark paws moved across the roots so that he could make his way to her. He'd seen her sister once before, and the only reason he assumed they were sisters was because he had never in his life seen such markings on another wolf.
Not to say anyone was better than anyone else for any reason, he still found himself admiring the beauty in this sister as opposed to the other. Her markings were so vivid, and the way she stood independently away from the rest of the pack.. like all she needed was her own company? Well, Archelaus knew that feeling. He furrowed his 'brows and reminded himself not to assume too much before meeting her, but it was hard.. she was beautiful and he was already going over the different possibilities of what she could like. Especially.. what she might like in her men. Well, there was no denying it from himself now was there? With thoughts like that, it was quite obvious to him that this nameless woman had his attention.
It had been so long since he'd even tried to flirt with another woman, though. It was long before he returned to Fiori this last time. Things ended badly, but that was part of life wasn't it? Everyone went through break ups. Was still difficult, but not impossible, to kick the insecurity that comes with being left for another man. He may have a plain coat, but he had muscles, height and wit. After a bit of self-pepping he let a smile curve his lips as he neared her. "I reallyyy hope you are a part of the pack, because I reallyyy don't want to tell you to leave. You and your sister live here, right?" He hoped for confirmation, but he was already pretty certain, "I'm Archelaus.. one of the squires of Fiori, and I do not believe we have met."
