Hunter's Fire

The boy's silvery-gray ears perked forward when Acapella finally spoke, telling the other wolves what she'd observed with the herd of deer. So, it seemed their target would be a wounded doe and her young fawn. Although he did not know the plight of another species, he felt somewhat bothered about taking down the young animal, but such was the circle of life. If they didn't take down the wounded doe today, she may die from an infected wound, and her fawn might not survive without her anyways. Celestial would be keeping themselves well-fed, and the herd strong by weeding out the weak. He pushed his thoughts aside, knowing it was silly to even think of. Besides, he needed to focus on the hunt leader. She asked who would volunteer to be in the fast-running group to get the herd going and split them up appropriately. Exodus knew he wouldn't be of any use in that group - he'd have to use his endurance and strength to help with this hunt.
"I'm not the fastest, so I'll have to help with taking them down once we've got them separated," he spoke up, the vibrant green stripes under his eyes standing out against his darkly shaded pelt, "Perhaps I can be part of an ambush?" Would that be possible? He wasn't the best hunter, and he couldn't imagine trying to come up with a strategy for such an important task. So he fell silent, waiting for the others to speak up and take their roles, so that the hunt could proceed.
