Gaius vaguely noticed the male in view, pretty much just ignoring him until he spoke. He didn't seem like any threat and Gaius wasn't one to jump to those conclusions. An ear flicked toward the man but he continued to not make eye contact, instead moving his chin with the base of the stones in the distance.

"I suppose it could happen. What do you think, one will jump up and take the shape of a rabbit?"

Gauis was a pretty serious wolf but it should have been easy to tell he was joking. He was, but his cold and stale expressions may have stated other wise. He was a little hard to read at times. And of course he liked it that way because then no one could get close to him. He didn't think he could go through another heart break. And definitely not another loss of his family.
