weep not for me

Spring was coming to a close. With it, the dwindling need to couple with another. The phantom was becoming comfortable in the land of her birth. She had settled into a pool of warm water, bubbling slowly from somewhere far below. It eased some of the discomfort that came from her heat. She hummed quietly to herself, the tune of an old lullaby her family had taught her. It was quite dark out, with the moon having shrunk to nothing. She watched the stars, their path across the sky.
The question of her legacy was not something she had thought about often. There were many to continue the line, back in her homeland. Now, she wondered if she should have tried. Svetovid was nowhere to be found, and whether he had settled down with someone was unknown. Did she have nieces and nephews somewhere? There was a chance she would never find out. For some reason, that was more upsetting than she herself never having pups.
A few night animals were scuffling about somewhere nearby, offering their company to the introspecting dame. Her paws adjusted, front limbs folding over one another as she lounged in the shallows of the springs.
