Bulls In The Bronx [Raid]

Gwen hit the girl with a force that jarred her own body, but the yearling slipped away before she could get any sort of grip with her paws, and her teeth shut on nothing. Had she been younger and less experience, she might have gotten frustrated, or angry, but that wasn’t Gwen’s way. No, she moved immediately and coolly to the next problem, rather than focusing on what had already happened. Her forepaws landed softly, naturally returning to shoulder-width apart to match her hindpaws for balance, her weight rocking forward once they’d touched down to be evenly distributed over all four paws. Her ears remained pinned back and her eyes narrowed, wary and watchful as she attempted to minimize the likelihood of losing one to an attack. Her joints stayed loose and slightly bent with each movement, lowering her center of gravity and allowing her to move more smoothly and easily. Her chin tilted down to protect her throat, hackles raised over her neck and shoulders to confuse her outline. Sterling continued to pivot, clearly seeking to get Gwen at the same bad angle she had just been in, but Gwen pivoted with her, the Adravendi’s hindquarters moving to her right to pivot her around her forehand, following Sterling’s movements as though they danced. She only pivoted ninety degrees though, attempting to bring her face-to-face with the yearling rather than continuing to face her side, so that when the yearling attempted to strike her Gwen needed only to sidestep to her own right. This didn’t bring her out of reach, but it did soften the blow - instead of hitting with her out-thrust shoulder, Sterling instead struck with her trailing left front side of her chest and shoulder onto the left side of Gwen’s chest in the front. The close distance coupled with the movement rendered the attack, while not harmless, certainly less harmful. Gwen spread her paws and dug her claws into the dirt for traction as she took the hit, letting it throw her weight onto her hindquarters to help take some of the momentum, so while it drew a grunt from her and minor bruising along the front left side of her chest, it did not throw her down or cause major issues. With her weight already on her hindquarters Gwen attempted to half-rear once more, forelegs again rising to try to wrap around Sterling’s neck. Gwen’s right foreleg sought to rise alongside Sterling’s left side, her left foreleg around the yearling’s right side, in an attempt to cross over the girl’s neck right in front of her shoulders with the hope of drawing her tight against Gwen’s chest. As she did she turned her head to her left and snapped at Sterling’s muzzle, attempting to grip the top halfway between nose and eyes and force her jaws down to Gwen's left and further away from Gwen's body, partly in an attempt to interrupt her attack and partly to control and prevent future ones. (COUNTER) Simultaneously she arched her back like a startled cat to give her more leverage, dug her hindclaws in, and attempted to thrust forward with her hindlegs with a force like the uncoiling of steel springs, aiming to shove the front and left forefront of her chest and shoulder powerfully against the same points on Sterling in an attempt to throw the girl back on her haunches or even bowl her over. If she could throw the girl, it could demoralize her, and perhaps that would convince her to leave the fight and the raid without causing her a major injury.
