A sound nearby drug Ganta out of his somber mood, white gaze flickering in the direction of the sound. His ears perked, heart beating a bit faster as he approached the source of the sound. That was when he saw the young boy for the first time, and Ganta felt his heart clench in his chest as a mixture of different emotions overcame him.
The innocence of the child, locked in battle with a root, tore at him. Philomena likely would have done the same thing… Oh his poor Philly… if only Riker hadn’t been smart enough to cover his scent with mud too! The trail had ended cold and Ganta cursed his luck. He felt like he was trying to find single grain in all of Boreas right now… maybe even beyond those lands by this point.
“You shouldn’t struggle so much… Struggling can cause you to twist your paw into a worse position, possibly spraining it. Be calm, try pulling it out slowly if you can.” He wasn’t sure if the kid would listen to him, or possibly get more startled by his presence, but hopefully he wouldn’t make things worse by speaking up. |
