He followed Vali’s call to the rapids and approached as silently as a shadow, his eyes narrowed as usual. The boy had been quiet since the las time he had met Vali, although he had always been quiet to some extent. He supposed someone might find that suspicious, but he had found that all it really meant was that no one knew what truly laid in his heart.
He sat beside Aranea without a word, although he found himself unable to help but smile in the girl’s presence. He had developed a fondness for her that he had mostly kept to himself out of fear of rejection, but couldn’t help but show itself whenever she was nearby. “Morning.” He said quietly with a light titter of a chuckle on his voice as if he were sharing a funny secret. Other than his sister the girl was the only one his age left in the pack, and even growing up he had never had a friend he wasn’t related to. The thought of someone new he could spend his time with that wasn’t some pompous adult excited him in a way he couldn’t fully describe, and the way she seemed to like him in return made his heart soar.
