He stopped and turned his head slightly, although his eyes regarded only the glittering wall of the cave. “Abaven is far away from here” He said, sternly as if he were an adult scolding a child. For a long moment he said nothing, only stared at the wall with a fixed look of seriousness. He turned away and sat, keeping his back to her, his ears perked and alert. “What was his name?” He asked, venom dripping from his voice as he spoke.

He was hurt, hurt and overwhelmed. He thought being a leader would come naturally to him, it had been something he wanted for so long and yet it always seemed unobtainable. Now his dreams were a reality, he was a leader, and  people believed in him. And as soon as his back had turned, Aranea had gone off and found some other boy, from another pack, one who probably wasn’t a leader like him so gods only knew who he thought he was getting his stinking sand and heat scent all over his woman.
