I'll show you how a heart can never fail
It felt good to escape from pack lands. Frostbite was left in charge and Rory felt like he could relax - even if it was only for a moment. It was an awful feeling that he couldn't be comfortable within his own lands, but the prisoner he'd brought home had changed everything. He was always on edge and barely sleeping because of his need to make sure that the asshole didn't try anything. He knew there were others willing to help, and it wasn't as though he didn't have faith in the members, but all it took was one mistake and someone would be hurt. He didn't want to deal with a situation like that so he was pushing to avoid it ever happening altogether.
A part of him wanted to be a kid again with his mother around to make all the decisions. He refused to resent Faite for anything, but he felt like he'd been robbed of his childhood. Well, he'd been robbed a part of his teen year really. For most children they could have resented their mothers for that - for running off to find some kids that were missing, but it wasn't her fault. He couldn't even be mad at his aunt for not keeping better tabs on her children. It was noble that Faite felt responsible to find them since she'd been alpha when they disappeared. He still missed her though.
He shook his head to rid himself of the thoughts. He'd come out here to escape and instead here he was still worrying over things he was trying to escape from. He took a moment to gather an idea of his surroundings and he was surprised to find himself at the knolls. He blinked wearily to make sure there was no one around before he flopped down on the top of a hill to watch the buffalo. They were gathered rather loosely as they meandered across the territory. They were massive and beautiful and at the moment he couldn't help but think about how thrilling it would have been to hunt them.
