Aurum was hungry. His belly ached like... like, well he wasn't sure what. It wasn't quite like stepping on something sharp and it wasn't quite like when his siblings pounced on him, but it was definitely something! And whatever it was, Aurum did not like it at all. He'd spent all morning looking for anything at all to eat. Luck had led him to three beetles and one scrumptious root he had dug up from the side of a small, mostly dried pond. Needless to say it was not exactly sufficient for a growing young lad.
Cranky from his lack of sustenance, Aurum slunk along his sister's trail, thoroughly defeated. Hopefully she, or more likely Zahir, had found something more filling. It seemed as though hunger followed them everywhere they went, like a cloud always hanging over them! Aurum groused to himself, mumbling under his breath that when he was big he was going to hunt a whole bunch of things every day, so he was never ever hungry! Yeah, that would be perfect! And until they, he supposed he would just have to daydream about it.
Well, that was until he walked up on Ferrous trying to tug at something huge! Aurum gasped and dashed forward. "Woah! Where'd this come from" He spun around, trying to find Argenti and Ferro as well. Deciding that they were not present, and that he was not going to waste precious time finding them, Aurum ran forwards towards the carcas. He found a bit of haunch that still had strings of meat attached. It was tough and chewy, certainly not fresh but Aurum was not used to fresh meat anyways and didn't particularly notice. He fastened his tiny puppy teeth into a particularly appetizing looking bit and tugged and tugged until it tore free. He took a few more of these frantic bites before looking up at Ferrous. "'Ere's Z'eer?" he said, mangling the words through a mouthful of meat. It wasn't often the leopard was far away. "An' Argen'ee 'n Ro?" Aurum didn't want to stop eating, but he also didn't want the rest of his family to miss out.
