Having Carletta return made him forget about everything else for a while. For a little while he could imagine that Fiori was still in tact, his children were all here and just out of sight, and everything was right in the world. Unfortunately, that just wasn’t the case. Jackson’s howl surprised him and he was almost a bit hesitant to answer it. Leaving his warm den where he was curled up with Carletta to answer Jackson’s call was like he was admitting that something was actually wrong and his life wasn’t actually back to how it was supposed to be. But he knew he couldn’t refuse his nephew. With a sigh he slipped out into the cold air, giving his thick coat a quick shake to fluff out any of the flat spots where his fur had gotten squished where he was laying. He trotted off to meet up with Jackson even though his joints protested the sudden movement. It was obvious that the years were catching up to him, but he put a smile on his face and tried to pretend that he felt just fine. "Jackson!” he said as he walked up to his nephew, giving him a grin. "It’s so good to see you! I was afraid that everyone had run off.” |
