will the real slim shady please stand up
Today was the day Divo left behind those pesky sisters, and struck out on her own. Mama had told her to be careful, and call for help if she needed it. Clumsy, oversized paws scrambled up over midsize boulders and thumped down steep inclines. More often than not, she tumbled down like a small avalanche. Divo was clumsy and foolish, and full of youthful bravado. This was why she had come farther than she should have. It was so far from home, but she wanted to see it all! Tired little legs, gangly and awkward, finally gave out just on the edge of the beach. Still in the foothills of the mountains, she laid down to catch her breath. Sprawled out in the chilly drifts, Divo rested her delicate chin upon the ground and let out a heavy sigh. The water was so pretty! Mama had said there was a thing called the ocean in this direction. That must be it! It was the biggest puddle Divo had ever seen! Much better than the puddles in the den, always making drip drip drip sounds. Odd eyes would sparkle with wonder as the little pup stared out at the calm sea. Today there wasn't a storm, and Mama had said that was why she was allowed outside. "Если небо станет серым, как хвост Дарьи, поверните назад и вернитесь домой." She had said, with a look on her face that Divo knew was serious. Mama had told her what would happen to little pups who got caught in a northern winter's storm. She didn't want to freeze into stone! Soft vocals would arise in the form of a song, tune carried gently by her young tombre. "Я возьму звезды с неба, поставлю их в глаза." She murmured, head rocking from side to side. Squirming in the snow for a brief moment, she arranged her head atop her little paws. "Вытащите лепестки из цветов, вытащите мышь с плеч." Colourless tail thumped lazily on the ground. Her legs didn't hurt much anymore. It was time to go to the ocean! Divo wanted to see the big water. Thumping carelessly down the slope towards the ebony sand, the child suddenly found herself awestruck. She had yet to encounter ground that wasn't slate stone, or pale snow. Black sand? Now, that was weird. "Снег приходит в черное?" She questioned aloud, tiara cocked to one side. One tentative paw would reach out and step upon the dark ground. It wasn't cold, like snow. It didn't bite at her pads, but instead smooshed itself between them. What? Another paw, another, and the last. Standing fully on the strange, dark sand, the pup found herself confused. Nonetheless, it was time to see the ocean! Bounding across the sand, she tumbled to the ground almost immediately. The ground was weird. Stumbling back to her feet, the child raced off to the water. The gentle lap of the waves against the dark shore was a ruse, the sea was still dangerous. Splashing into the waves, the child was overcome with a real shock. "Холодно! Холодно!"
