It wouldn't be that far of a stretch to claim that Gryphon was always working. Most of the time he was indeed actively hunting, or tracking herd movements, or simply keeping his eyes and ears open for any unexpected opportunities that might arise. He rarely simply lounged around relaxing, or even spent time in idle exploration or socialization. If anything he had a tendency to avoid anyone else even in the pack unless he was actually bringing them a meal, or hunting beside them. He wasn't by nature antisocial, really, but he wasn't a frivolous soul at the best of times and his recent promotion had him very, very serious about his job.
Despite all that, so far all he'd done today was drowse sleepily in the hollow he'd scraped out for sleeping. This early was usually his best time for hunting, but something about the morning just encouraged sloth.
Still, when Dragon's call echoed over the lands he cracked one eye and yawned. Well, it looked like his time for napping was over. Probably for the best really, he wasn't used to sleeping in and he'd probably feel groggy and cranky the rest of the day if he drowsed any longer. Stretching and climbing to his paws with another yawn, the earthen-coated male loped across the plains to join the group slowly accumulating around the alpha.
He wondered briefly where the rest of the pack was hiding themselves, but he knew they'd start trickling in eventually, and he was hardly one to talk about being late. He did wonder what they were meeting again for so soon after their last meeting, though, curiosity pricking at him as he seated himself.
