But you'll never find the answers, until you set your old heart free
Spring was here at last! Lydia strode out of her small den to take in the slightly warmer air. Here in the north it was difficult to tell as snow still clung stubbornly to the ground but the trees were beginning to green and the birds were singing to their heats content. Lydia had stayed in the north through the winter. After that experience, harrowing as it was, she had gained a new self-confidence. She'd faced down winter in the north as a loner. That had to be worth something and she was as far away as she could get from the monsters that had enslaved her.
Her wandering took her through the mountains when a small cave opening caught her attention. Lydia was careful. Spring meant waking bears and to traipse into the den of a cranky bear was a quick way to get torn to pieces and eaten. When she was certain there was no need to be afraid she slipped into the cave and began to explore. As she weaved her way through the caverns she was stunned to find a little black and white pup in the caves. "Oh, hello? Are you lost little one? You shouldn't be down here by yourself."
