He had been tracking a small herd of caribou that had crossed the mountains, but as the day dragged on it would bring forth a violent blizzard. It had started before he even knew what was going on, caught in the middle of it all. He knew the north lands could be dangerous and untamed, but he didn't realize just how dangerous they could be and how swift it's rage could descend upon the lands if one weren't paying attention. And in his case, he had been so focused on tracking the herd that he hadn't bothered to keep an eye on his surroundings. And now, here he was. He could no longer keep track of which direction his herd had gone, the tracks were already being covered and swept up by the raging snow, and he couldn't even see much in front of him. Bi-colored eyes squinted to try and keep the snow from burning his eyes, tears from the cold wind froze almost immediately as soon as they were dropped. His fur and face began to crust with ice and snow, and already he found himself in a dire situation.
He needed to find warmth and shelter, and fast. He didn't know how long this blizzard would last, and if he tried to go back home he might become even more lost or go in an entirely different direction. With this raging weather, he couldn't even tell which way home was anymore. So instead of trying to figure that out, he moved blindly through the storm in the hopes of finding some sort of shelter. Eventually, he would. Head down and fur whipping with the snow, the wind whipped male moved with agonizingly slow steps until his feet touched cold stone. When he moved far enough into its shelter, he attempted to shake off what snow he could, but the majority of it seemed to have iced up on his thick coat. Sneezing once, he shook his head and glanced up to look around. He had never been in this cave before, and as his gaze roamed the length of the walls until they found the entrance, he froze. It seemed, the male wasn't alone. Sitting there at the entrance was another wolf, maybe a couple of seasons older than he was. He didn't know what to say, wasn't expecting to find anyone else out here in this blizzard, so he simply watched her. He kept his guard up in the event she turned out to be hostile, with his body frozen he would really have to push himself to move. Already he was shivering violently and try as he might with all the will power he had, he couldn't stop. And if he had to fight, then he'd do just that... |
