Chaos sat lost in his thoughts and the soothing stroke of paw on fur for a moment, until Leto’s comments brought his eyes open again. “Not really,” he assured her. “Dad never treated me any different than the other kids for not carrying his name, and my brothers and sisters are treated me just like one of them. I guess maybe if we had had all the same parents it would have felt weird to be the only one who was a Saxe, but we came from three different moms anyway so we were already used to our family being a bit different than everyone else's.”

He shrugged again, unable to stop the restless movement. “Anyway, I try to live my life in a way that would make both my parents proud. I do want everyone to know the Saxe name again, and respect it. I thought I could do that by having a pack but… that didn't really work out well. I guess I just don't make as good an alpha as my dad after all.”
